NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has questioned whether the ED is not interested in proceeding with the money laundering case related to the Gold Smuggling in Thiruvananthapuram. The bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti said this when the ED sought postponement of hearing the petition yesterday citing the inconvenience caused due to the unavailability of Additional Solicitor General SV Raju. The court had raised a similar question when the matter came up for a hearing on October 1 last year.
The Supreme Court posted the matter for hearing after six weeks on ED's plea to shift the trial from Kerala to Bengaluru. The ED's plea says that if the trial is held in Kerala, the case will be sabotaged. M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, Swapna Suresh, PS Sarith and Sandeep Nair are the respondents in the petition.
