KASARGOD: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan said that the secular mind of Kerala was hurt by the advertisement given by the CPM in newspapers.
"It will take a long time to heal this wound. The CPM, which is travelling through the path of Sangh Parivar, published the newspaper ad with the malicious intention of creating a religious division. The CPI, which stated that the advertisement in question promotes communal hatred, clarified that it was not issued by the Left Front. Even the CPI's Election Committee Chairman was unaware of the advertisement. Minister MB Rajesh is responsible for issuing the advertisement, yet he is defending it. The minister claimed that the decision to publish the advertisement in these two newspapers was taken considering the low cost. However, the day before, a four-page advertisement was published in a leading daily, which did not contain any communal content. The claim that financial constraints led to the decision to advertise in these two newspapers is, therefore, a blatant lie," Satheesan said.
"The CPM tried to incite religious hatred by publishing this advertisement in newspapers owned by Muslim organizations. However, they did not publish the same advertisement in Deshabhimani, the party mouthpiece. CPM's action has caused a significant wound," he said.
"CPM leaders seem to have lost their minds following the humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. They don't even know what to say. They are being controlled by the BJP. As Sandeep Varier said yesterday, the advertisement was issued for the CPM from the BJP office. Voters in Palakkad will deliver a strong backlash to those attempting to propagate vile communalism. The election results in Palakkad will also stand as a declaration that Kerala always upholds secularism. The CPM issued the advertisement in violation of election rules. The minister approved this advertisement before it was published. It is unbecoming of a state minister to support advertisements spreading communal hatred. The UDF will confront this legally to ensure that such incidents should never be repeated in Kerala," he added.
