VELLARADA: Congress leader and former president of Mundela Rajiv Gandhi Residence Welfare Society Retired BDO Mohanakumaran Nair (62) was found dead on Tuesday. He was found hanging in a shed at Agastya Resort at the foothills of Kondaketti Hill. Mohanan had reached the resort on Tuesday night. The employee who came to give tea in the morning saw the leader hanging. The resort was in the name of Mohanan’s younger brother.
Police doubt financial liability to be behind the decision. An investigation is underway following the discovery of irregularities of crores in the cooperative society of which Mohanan was the president. For a long, there had been strong protests due to irregularities in the Congress-ruled Mundela Rajiv Gandhi Residence Welfare Co-operative. The registrar's investigation had found a diversion of 34 crores. After this, the governing body was dissolved.
The suicide note of Mohanakumaran Nair has also been found. Vellarada police have registered a case and started an investigation. The relatives received the body after post-mortem at the medical college. Mohanan leaves behind his wife Sudhakumari and children: Krishna Kripa Son-in-law: Vishnu.
