20-year-old Bengal native dies in accident; 15 injured

THIRUVAMBADY: An accident claimed the life of a 20-year-old migrant worker, SK Shahidul, hailing from Bengal, when a mini pickup van carrying construction workers overturned in Mele Koompara on Saturday evening. The accident, which occurred around 7 PM, left 15 others injured, including two who are in critical condition.

The vehicle involved was transporting 17 people, primarily migrant workers returning from a construction site in Kakkadampoyil. Apart from the Malayali driver, all others on board were migrant laborers. The injured were rushed to various hospitals for treatment. Locals swiftly initiated rescue operations, with the fire force arriving shortly after to assist. The vehicle sustained partial damage in the mishap.
