PALAKKAD: Party state president K Surendran has got the full support of the BJP central leadership over the dispute in Kerala. The central leadership's stand is that let Surendran continue as the state president till the assembly elections. The central leadership accepted the report given by Surendran over the defeat in Palakkad. The leadership is of the opinion that there will be no further explosion after the Palakkad BJP leaders were banned from public response. The criticism, including from the municipal chairperson, regarding the by-election results had led to major discussions. The leadership will also make moves to persuade the councillors.
Surendran had expressed his willingness to resign in the wake of the criticism following the defeat in Palakkad. Surendran had also stated that he takes the moral responsibility for the defeat. He expressed his willingness to resign to national president J P Nadda and organization general secretary B L Santhosh. However, the central leadership informed Surendran that it would examine the situation in Palakkad and take necessary steps.
Meantime, Surendran clarified that they will intensify the strike on the Waqf land issue. His response was at the press meet convened after the party leadership meeting. The BJP will march to the offices of Kerala MPs who do not support the Waqf Bill in Parliament. There is a situation in Kerala where anyone can be evicted in the name of Waqf. The resolution passed by the assembly against the Waqf Bill is against Kerala. It should be withdrawn. There is widespread irregularity in the local ward redivision. This is with the support of the district administrations and the state government. The UDF is also silent on this issue. The BJP will resist this move politically and legally; Surendran clarified.
