Divorce granted: Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth officially end 18 years of marriage

South Indian actor Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth have ended their marriage. Chennai Family Welfare Court has officially granted them divorce. In the last hearing, the two had told the court that they were firm on their decision to go ahead with the divorce. Earlier, there were rumours that Dhanush and Aishwarya would be reuniting as they had not appeared for the hearing thrice earlier. There were also reports that Rajinikanth was intervening and trying to dissuade the two from getting divorced.

Dhanush, son of film director Kasthuriraja and Aishwarya, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, got married on November 18, 2004. They have two sons, Yatra and Linga. The couple announced their separation in 2022 after 18 years of marriage.

The couple released a joint statement revealing their decision to part ways. The statement read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa/Dhanush and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this (sic).”
