ALAPPUZHA: As problems brewing in CPM, Congress leader K C Venugopal visited G Sudhakaran, who is almost completely excluded from party venues. He visited the senior leader at his home in Punnapra Sunday afternoon. Both the leaders said that it was just a friendly visit and that they meet occasionally. Sudhakaran was completely excluded even from the area meeting held near his own house. There were reports that he was unhappy with this. In this situation, various speculations started circulating after the meeting.
He told media after the meeting that even his opponents consider him an important person despite not holding party posts. 'When you look at the pattern of my political work in the last sixty-two years, those who are not in the party and those who have left the party have to say everything about me. He said that it only means that my political life cannot be ignored. However, he refused to comment on not being invited to party meetings. Sudhakaran added that he had also accepted the age requirement in the party. Political observers have interpreted the statement as a clear warning to the leadership, which had kept him away from the conferences.
Before meeting Sudhakaran, Venugopal had criticized the CPM for vote leakage to the BJP. The CPM does not interfere in internal affairs. It is their responsibility to ensure that there is no leakage. The allegation was that there was a deal with us, but people are leaving from their group. It is they who should take care of that, said K C Venugopal.
