VILLUPURAM: DMK minister Ponmudi, who was on his way to visit the flood-affected area of Villupuram, was attacked with mud by angry villagers. The villagers protested by hurling mud at Ponmudi when he came to meet the protestors at Iruvelpattu village. Cyclone Fengal had caused heavy damage in Tindivanam in Villupuram. The breaking of the canal in the area added to the misery.
Ponmudi and Minister Mathiventhan reached Villupuram in this situation along with the district collector to provide relief materials. Ponmudi was on his way to the Iruvelpattu area when villagers hurled mud at him. The police immediately intervened and took him near the car.
Posting the video of the incident on X, BJP State president K Annamalai said
"This is the current state of affairs in Tamil Nadu. The CM and the Deputy Chief Minister were busy taking photos in the streets of Chennai while the city received very little rain and did not bother to keep track of the happenings beyond Chennai. The DIPR behaves like the media arm of the DMK and is busy promoting the Gopalapuram scion to divert people from the harsh realities of the flood, a clear sign of the government's neglect. Today, the public's frustration reached a boiling point as a Corrupt DMK Minister, Thiru Ponmudi, visited a flood-affected area and was met with a barrage of mud. This is a gentle reminder for DMK about what is on the offing."
Annamalai had visited the ccyclone-affectedareas and provided help. He had also reached Villupuram.
