THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government ruled out the demand for a CBI investigation into the death of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. The government found no real need for CBI as they believe the police investigation is going in the right direction.

The decision will be communicated to the High Court tomorrow. The government in a statement promised to look into all the concerns of Naveen Babu's family regarding his death. Naveen's wife Manjusha had filed a petition in the High Court demanding that the police investigation into her husband's death was not satisfactory and requested a CBI takeover.

In the petition, the family raised suspicion that Naveen Babu was killed and hanged. The petition also criticized the hesitance of police to investigate the role of former district panchayat president PP Divya. The high court will consider the petition on Friday. The court will decide whether to hand over the case to the CBI, only after comprehending the case diary and investigation progress report.

Naveen Babu, a native of Pathanamthitta, was found dead in his official quarters on October 16.
