Stage erected in middle of road for CPM Area Conference, traffic disrupted; police register case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case over the incident where traffic was disrupted by erecting a stage in the middle of the road for the public conference held in connection with the CPM Palayam Area Conference. The Vanchiyoor police registered the case after the incident sparked a controversy. The case was registered for obstructing public movement. Traffic was disrupted in the area till night as a drama was also played on the stage after the public conference.

The stage for the conference was set up in front of the district court and police station at Vanchiyoor Junction. The stage was located on the road from Uppidamoodu Bridge to Vanchiyoor. Police had to divert the vehicles to ease the traffic congestion. The area started witnessing traffic disruptions since the construction of the stage began on Wednesday. The public conference began at 6 pm on Thursday. CPM state secretary MV Govindan inaugurated the event, which also featured a drama performance by KPAC titled 'Ningalenne Communistakki'.
