ALAPPUZHA: Former CPM leaders Bipin C Babu and Madhu Mullassery will be BJP state committee members. Both were nominated to the state committee by BJP state president K Surendran. Madhu Mullassery is the former area secretary of CPM Mangalapuram. Madhu Mullassery walked out of the area conference after not getting the post of area secretary for the third time. He had also made serious allegations against District Secretary V Joy. Madhu Mullassery joined the BJP at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram the other day. His son Mithun, DYFI regional secretary and CPM local committee member, has also joined the BJP.
Bipin C Babu, who was a member of the CPM Alappuzha Area Committee, joined the BJP on November 30. Bipin left the party at a time when factionalism in the CPM was intensifying in Alappuzha. He has held the posts of Alappuzha District Panchayat Member, District Panchayat Vice President, Mutukulam Block Panchayat Ex-President, SFI Alappuzha District Secretary, President, DYFI District President, State Committee Member and Kerala University Senate Member. After leaving the party, the police registered a case against Bipin C Babu on his wife's complaint of dowry harassment.
