MALAPPURAM: KSEB has stopped permanent recruitments by pushing for temporary appointments and contract jobs. Candidates are left in the dark over the KSEB Chairman's order in 2022 to stop reporting the vacancies to PSC, stating that it will adversely affect board reorganisation. The Regulatory Commission had directed the KSEB to reduce the number of staff and costs and redeploy the surplus staff as a result of computerization and technology. Subsequently, the board completed the reorganization process which was started three years ago and submitted the report to the government a month ago.
Earlier the number of employees was more than what was approved by the Regulatory Commission, but now it is less. The Regulatory Commission had approved the salary expenditure of 30,321 employees but now there are only 26,822 employees. Along with the 3,499 vacancies, the candidates will lose about 7,000 opportunities, including the vacancies of about 3,000 people who will retire this year.
