NEW DELHI: One more actress has come forward questioning the investigation based on the findings of the Justice Hema Committee, which was appointed to study the issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. The actress has submitted an application to join as a party in a related petition pending in the Supreme Court. In the petition, the actress stated that she suspects that her statement has been tampered with and that the SIT has not yet approached her.
Earlier, actress Mala Parvathy had also approached the Supreme Court against the Hema Commission's investigation. Mala Parvathy stated that the Hema Committee had assured her confidentiality when she provided her statement. In her petition, she stated she now fears for her privacy in light of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has opposed the issuance of notice on Mala Parvathy's petition, stating that the petition filed in the Supreme Court is irrelevant. The organization has also submitted an application to join as a party in the petition.
