Six govt employees suspended on social security pension fraud case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six government employees involved in the social security pension fraud have been suspended. The action is against employees of the soil conservation department. Those who faced action include part-time sweepers to work office workers, and they have been asked to repay the illegally received amount along with 18 % interest.


1458 from gazetted officers to college teachers, were illegally receiving social welfare pension of Rs 1600 per month. The fraud was discovered in an investigation conducted by the information Kerala mission following the instructions of the finance department. In this way, about Rs 23 lakh is lost from the government treasury every month and Rs 2.34 crore a year. The fraud came to light when the Aadhaar numbers in the service software that manages the pension list and the Spark software for salary distribution of government employees were found to be the same.
