Two people found dead in caravan; police did not find anything suspicious, inspection continues

KOZHIKODE: An investigation is ongoing into the incident where two people were found dead in a caravan parked by the roadside at Karimbanapalam, Vadakara. A forensic team, fingerprint experts, and a dog squad are conducting inspections at the spot. The DySP said that nothing suspicious has been found so far and that further details could be revealed after the post-mortem procedures. He added that the police have contacted the owner of the caravan and that he does not know anything about the incident.

The deceased were identified as Manoj and Joel, employees of Lifeline Hospitality Company in Edappal, Malappuram. Manoj hailed from Vaniyambalam in Vandoor, Malappuram, while Joel was from Parassery in Kannur. On Sunday, a family from Kunnamkulam was taken to Kannur in the caravan to attend a wedding. Later that night, Joel and Manoj left Kannur in the caravan. They parked the vehicle on the roadside in Karimbanapalam at around 12:30.

The vehicle was supposed to reach Malappuram by Monday afternoon. As the caravan did not arrive in Malappuram, the company conducted an inquiry and found its location near Karimbanapalam with the help of GPS. A local resident was informed, and following a search by the villagers, the two bodies were discovered inside the caravan.

Joel's body was found wrapped in a blanket at the back of the caravan. Manoj's body was lying next to the door of the caravan. Manoj had the keys to the vehicle in his hand. The police suspect that they may have died while trying to escape. The police believe that a gas leak from the AC may have been the cause of death. The bodies were shifted from the caravan after completing the inquest proceedings.
