NEW DELHI: The BJP is gearing up to counter Congress's campaign in the controversy surrounding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statements about Dr BR Ambedkar. The party has decided to organize a widespread campaign to counter the allegations and campaigns raised by the Congress against Amit Shah and expose Congress's stance on Ambedkar. The BJP has sought the support of its allies in this regard.
This decision was made during a meeting of NDA allies at BJP National President JP Nadda's residence in the state capital. During the meeting, Amit Shah explained the events that unfolded in Parliament. The meeting began at 1 PM on Wednesday. It was already reported that the meeting would discuss ways to counter the opposition's protests alleging that Amit Shah had insulted BR Ambedkar.
Issues like 'One Nation, One Election' and the Waqf Bill were also discussed at the meeting. The BJP might allocate some of its seats to allies like the JD(U) and Chirag Paswan's LJP in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. This was the first NDA meeting after the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections. However, leaders like JD(U) President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde did not attend the meeting.
Congress had organized nationwide protests, accusing Amit Shah of making derogatory statements about Ambedkar in Parliament. There were large protests both inside and outside the Parliament against Amit Shah by Congress leaders.
