KOCHI: The police have filed a case against the organizers of the dance event after Uma Thomas MLA fell and sustained serious injuries in Kaloor. The Palarivattom police have registered the case against the Mridanga Vision and those erecting the stage. The case was against them for constructing the stage dangerously endangering one’s life.
According to the preliminary information report, Uma Thomas, who fell from a height of fourteen feet, sustained serious injuries and the organizers of the event failed to prepare public safety arrangements. The police pointed that there was no way for a person to walk in front of the temporary stage and there was no safety fence.
Minister P Rajeev had informed earlier that a medical team was formed for the treatment of Uma Thomas. A doctors’ team from Kottayam Medical College released a detailed health report around 1.45 am. She was examined by a team led by medical college superintendent Dr T K Jayakumar. Health Minister Veena spoke with the doctors of the Renai Medicity in Kochi where she is undergoing treatment.
Uma Thomas is presently on ventilator. The doctors said that she suffered severe injuries, including a brain haemorrhage due to a head injury, blood clots in the lungs, and fractures to the spine, ribs, facial bones, and leg. The doctors said that the injuries she suffered will not heal quickly.
