THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, took the oath as the 23rd Governor of Kerala. The Kerala High Court Chief Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar administered the oath of office to him at the function held at Raj Bhavan. Arlekar was the Governor of Bihar.
The swearing-in ceremony was only three minutes long. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, ministers, opposition leader V D Satheesan, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, West Bengal Governor C V Anand Bose and other dignitaries attended the function.
Arlekar, who arrived at Thiruvananthapuram Airport last evening, was received by the chief minister, ministers and assembly speaker.
Arlekar is an active RSS-BJP worker since 1980. Arlekar, who previously served as the Governor of Bihar succeeds Arif Mohammed Khan, who has now been appointed as the Governor of Bihar. Arlekar entered politics through RSS and took membership in BJP in 1989. He had also served as forest minister and Speaker in Goa.
