THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the temperatures in the state will rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. Special precautions are advised in light of the ongoing School Kalolsavam in the capital city.

Due to the high temperatures and humid air, the weather is expected to feel hot and uncomfortable. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued warnings, as excessive heat can lead to conditions such as heatstroke, sunburns, and dehydration.

Construction workers, agricultural labourers, street vendors, and those involved in physically demanding jobs should modify their working hours to avoid peak heat hours. Fire audits should be conducted as the risk of fire incidents is higher during this period. Ensure proper safety precautions are in place.

Avoid Direct Sunlight:

  • From 11 AM to 3 PM: The SDMA has advised avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during this period.
  • Public Events and Conferences: Ensure sufficient drinking water and shade for attendees. Avoid scheduling events between 11 AM and 3 PM.
  • Anganwadis must ensure that children are protected from excessive heat.

Precautions at Kalolsavam venues
Special care must be taken at the State School Kalolsavam venues. Ensure adequate ventilation, drinking water, and shade for participants and attendees. Students should avoid direct exposure to the sun.
