Rains likely to lash state in next five days, warns of bad weather today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that there will be light rain in the state for the next five days. There is a possibility of rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur today.


There is a possibility of rain in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki tomorrow. The IMD has also announced that there will be rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on January 11. The Meteorological Department has also stated that there will be light rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on January 12. No yellow or red alerts have been issued for any districts.


There is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph over the northern parts of the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal today. Meantime, the IMD has informed that there is no hindrance to fishing along the Kerala - Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts today.
