KOZHIKODE: When the crime branch was investigating the missing case of Mohammad Attur aka Mami, a real estate businessman from Kozhikode, his driver and wife have gone missing. The missing are driver Rajith Kumar and his wife Tushara. Sumaljith, Tushara’s brother has lodged a missing complaint with the Nadakkavu police.

The couple was staying in a lodge near the KSRTC bus stand in Kozhikode. The complaint said they vacated the room on Thursday and there is no information about the two after that. Rajith Kumar and Tushara left home last Tuesday. It has been reported that the crime branch had issued a notice summoning the two for interrogation. An investigation conducted based on the complaint, the police received CCTV footage of the two getting into an auto. The investigation team is trying to find this auto.

Meantime, former manager Somasundaram’s statement to the crime branch in connection with Mami's missing case was also a turning point in the investigation. He told the crime branch that a group had approached him within a month of Mami's disappearance, demanding a land transaction document. The group, including Mami's driver, had come seeking a land agreement.

The people who came were from Tirur and Pulikkal. However, Somasundaram had told the people who came that he could not help since Mami was missing. He said that he did not have the agreement and that if he had one, he could not do anything without Mami's knowledge. He had told the investigation team that he think that Mami had last gone with someone he knew. Somasundaram had also told the investigation team about the SMS that he received from Mami's phone after he went missing.

Mami went missing on August 21 in 2023. In an investigation conducted through mobile phones, it was found that Mami was in Atholi Parambath and Thalakulathur area till noon on August 22. As part of the investigation, 147 people were questioned. More than a thousand phone calls were examined. The investigation was taken over by the Kozhikode State Crime Branch last September after the family expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation conducted by the special investigation team.
