18-year-old girl sexually assaulted by 60 people over a period of five years; revelation that harassment started at age of 13

PATHANAMTHITTA: Complaint that an 18-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted by 60 people over a period of five years in Elavumthitta, Pathanamthitta. The girl disclosed the abuse to the Council for Child Welfare. Elavumthitta police registered a POCSO case against 40 people based on the complaint.

According to the complaint, the girl was sexually exploited by more than 60 people in the last five years since she was 13 years old. It is indicated that the preliminary investigation conducted by the police has discovered that there are 62 accused. Case has been registered against the accused at the Pathanamthitta police station also. The police say that there is a possibility of more accused in the case.

Such a high number of accused getting booked for a case of sexual exploitation of a girl is very rare. The police said that the investigation in the case is in progress and the accused will be taken into custody soon.
