Trainers, athletes and classmates among those who sexually abused girl; five persons arrested

PATHANAMTHITTA: Five individuals have been arrested in Pathanamthitta following the shocking revelation by an 18-year-old girl that she was sexually abused by over 60 people. The girl’s testimony, given to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), has been handed over to the Pathanamthitta SP. A special investigation team has been formed, and cases have been registered at various police stations in the district to initiate the probe.

The victim is currently 18 years old. Through the CWC, the police received details of the abuse spanning two years. According to the police, the accused included trainers, athletes, and classmates who sexually abused the girl, who is herself an athlete.

The complaint states that the abuse began when the girl was just 13 years old and continued over the past five years. The girl was sexually abused by more than 60 individuals. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that there are already 62 suspects involved. Police also suspect that more individuals could be implicated as the case progresses.
