First time in Sannidhanam; King Cobra sighting near Bhasmakulam in Sabarimala

PATHANAMTHITTA: King Cobra caught near Bhasmakulam in Sabarimala Sannidhanam. Specially trained rescuers of the forest department caught the snake at around 10 am today. Following the sighting of a snake near Bhasmakulam last day, vigilance has been stepped up in these areas. It was during this time that the King Cobra was seen again.


The captured snake was brought to Pampa and released in the inner forest. The King Cobra was caught by Abhinesh, Baiju and Arun, who had received special training. The forest department has put up full patrolling ahead of Makarvilak and has informed that monitoring will be intensified in the coming days. Three people who have received special training in snake handling are working with the Forest Department at Sannidhanam.

One works in Marakkoottam and anothers in Pampa. A King Cobra was caught from Pampa before. This is the first time that a King Cobra has been captured from Sannidhanam. A total of 243 snakes have been caught by the forest department since November 15 from Sannidhanam and Marakkoottam.
