NEW DELHI: Congress has promised to give Rs 8,500 per month to the educated and unemployed youth of Delhi if it comes to power. Congress leaders clarified in a press conference that financial assistance will be given for one year under the 'Yuva Udaan Yojana' scheme. Leaders including Sachin Pilot participated in the press conference.
"The people of Delhi are going to elect a new government on 5th February...We are going to present some guarantees for the people of Delhi. Today, our party has decided that we will provide Rs 8,500 per month to the youths of Delhi who are educated but unemployed for a period of 1 year. This is not just financial help. We will try to get them absorbed in the industry in which they have been trained...'- said Sachin Pilot.
The Congress has announced the third guarantee, days after it announced financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to eligible women under the Pyari Didi Yojana and health insurance coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh to Delhi residents through the Jeevan Raksha Yojana. Although the manifesto is yet to be released, the party is said to offer five guarantees focusing on welfare schemes and economic incentives.
The Aam Aadmi Party had won 67 seats and 62 seats in the 2015 and 2020 Delhi assembly elections. While BJP won three seats in 2015 and eight seats in 2020, Congress suffered a huge defeat.
