THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P V Anvar has resigned his post as an MLA after joining the Trinamool Congress. Anvar submitted his resignation letter to Speaker A N Shamseer Monday morning. Anvar had earlier removed the MLA board from the vehicle in which he arrived. The resignation comes with one and a half years left for him to complete the term.

The independent MLA post is an obstacle to officially joining the Trinamool Congress. If Anvar joins another party before the end of the term of the assembly, he will have to face disqualification. The resignation is to overcome this.

P V Anvar joined Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress the other day. Anvar will presently be Trinamool Congress’ state coordinator. Along with this, it is also reported that Mamata Banerjee has given the responsibility of coordinating the party's responsibilities in Kerala to MPs Sushmita Dev and Mahua Moitra.

No decision has been taken yet on whether to take Anvar into the UDF. Anvar is trying to prove his strength to the government and the LDF by contesting again from Nilambur.
