THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case on the complaint of the corporation following the High Court directive in the incident of placing flex in front of the secretariat. The Cantonment Police has registered a case against the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association. The High Court reacted strongly to the incident of illegally installing a large flex board with the chief minister's picture in front of the secretariat. "Flex was instaled by the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association. The very organization of employees who are supposed to implement the law has violated the government order and committed contempt of court," the court said. Justice Devan Ramachandran directed that disciplinary action should be taken if the officials are responsible for the installation of the flex board and the government should inform the government within a week about the action taken against them.
The court also demanded action against the advertising agency that designed the flex and those who printed it. Amicus curiae Harish Vasudevan informed that flex was installed in such a way that it obstructs the freedom of movement of the people on the public road. The court also asked the DGP to inform what action was taken against those responsible for placing up the flex.
The association installed a new flex in front of the secretariat while the process of removing the already installed cutouts and flexes was progressing in the state. The corporation officials asked to remove it, but the KSEA officials refused. The Corporation informed the High Court about this. The court appreciated when the corporation officials informed that the flex was moved by them on their own.
The court also directed that the corporation should specify how much rupees it has cost to remove the flex. "Action should be taken if the board was placed there by the government officials. IAS officers lose their moral responsibility if they do not take action against the violation. The whole world knows that such an order exists. How dare those who installed this flex still do so?" the court asked.
