22-year-old woman found dead after returning from in-laws' house

KOZHIKODE: A 22-year-old woman was found hanging in her house at Nadapuram in Kozhikode Wednesday morning. She has been identified as Fida Fathima, wife of Muhammed Irfan of Vaikkilassery in Vadakara. She was found hanging in a fan at her own house in Pattani.

Fida returned home from her husband's house yesterday afternoon. The initial conclusion is that it was a suicide. She got married to Irfan one and a half years ago.

The body has been shifted to the hospital after the inquest proceedings. It will be released to the relatives after the postmortem. A case has been registered by the police in the incident.

A newly wedded bride had committed suicide in Malappuram last week. Unable to bear the continuous insults her husband had inflicted on her over her skin color, Shahana Mumtaz of Kondotty committed suicide. Her husband, Abdul Wahid, of Morayur in Malappuram was arrested in the case.

The two got married on May 27 in 2024. Shahana's relatives alleged that Abdul Wahid called and insulted her over her skin colour 20 days after the wedding. Shahana was found hanging in her house on January 14. Shahana's family had filed a police complaint against her husband and family in the incident.
