KOCHI: CPM state secretary MV Govindan reiterated that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi won in the Lok Sabha elections in the Wayanad constituency by buying votes of the SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami.

"The Wayanad constituency largely comprises areas with a significant Muslim population. There is no need for the Congress to feel offended when it is stated that Priyanka Gandhi, and earlier Rahul Gandhi, won by securing votes from SDPI supporters and Jamaat-e-Islami members. I'm not claiming they won solely because of these votes but emphasising that these votes also contributed to their victory," Govindan said.

"Three of the constituencies under Wayanad fall in Malappuram district, one in Kozhikode district, and the remaining three are in Wayanad district. The election results in Wayanad should be analyzed in that context. The Congress is attempting to move forward by teaming up with both minority and majority communalism," he said.

He also stated that he has a clear answer to the question of who ensured the BJP's victory in Thrissur during the Lok Sabha elections.
