NEW DELHI: Both left and congress parties came in congruence on Sunday alleging the Central government of yet again ignoring Kerala in the union budget. Malayalees have been waiting for years to get the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) granted to Kerala. During every budget, Malayalees would be hoping for the central government to drop this news on AIIMS but to no avail.

But Union Minister and Thrissur MP Suresh Gopi has clarified about AIIMS coming to the state. Suresh Gopi wants AIIMS to be established in the Alappuzha district, the most backward district in the field of health.

Suresh Gopi confirmed having talks with JP Nadda on the issue. Gopi also blamed certain political interventions for the stooping low standards of health facilities in Alappuzha.

SURESH GOPI:

“If Kerala gets AIIMS, it should be in Alappuzha. I have never suggested AIIMS to be brought to Thrissur. Considering the terrible state of health facilities in the district, there is no doubt AIIMS should be heading to the Venice of the east. I met JP Nadda in 2015 and requested AIIMS for Alappuzha. Even after reaching the Rajya Sabha in 2016, I advocated the same. I then met CM Pinarayi Vijayan and requested him to put Alappuzha on the list but to date, it has not been done.”
