THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The budget has announced the establishment of two IT parks in Kollam (including one in the finance minister’s constituency) and one IT park and one science park in Kannur. 25 acres each near Kannur Airport has been identified for this purpose.
Additionally, science parks will be set up in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The process of finding land for these projects is ongoing. Rs 212 crore has been allocated for the development of the permanent campus of the Digital Science Park.
The IT park in Kannur will be developed over 500,000 square feet. In this regard, Rs 293.22 crore has been allocated from KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board).
One IT park in Kollam city will be established on the Corporation's land. KIIFB, KINFRA, and the Corporation will develop the IT park jointly. The second IT park in Kollam will be located at the Kallada Irrigation Project campus in Ravi Nagar, Kottarakkara (Finance Minister Balagopal’s constituency). A 97,370 sq. ft. built-up area has been identified. The park, led by IT company Zoho Corporation, will be inaugurated in April, creating 250 jobs.
