KOCHI: M.V. Govindan, the party state secretary has been granted an exemption from appearing in person at the High Court on February 10th in a contempt of court case. Instead, a division bench comprising Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice S. Muralikrishna ordered that he should appear at 4 pm on the 12th. The case stems from road traffic blockage during the CPM Palayam area conference held in Vanchiyoor.
The application filed by M.V. Govindan seeking exemption was granted as the party's Thrissur conference is being held on the 9th, 10th and 11th. It was stated that the date of the conference was fixed earlier and changing it would affect the timing of other conferences. In the contempt of court petition filed by Maradu native N. Prakash, the CPI state secretary and others should appear on the 10th itself.
