Two wheeler ride after shopping; tragic death for housewife; husband escapes with minor injuries

KOLLAM: A housewife died tragically after a parcel lorry hit the scooter while she was riding with her husband. Sudha (51), the wife of Biju Kumar, of Arun Nivas, Punukkannoor, Kundara Perumpuzha, died. The accident took place around 12.45 pm today. The accident occurred right in front of the bus waiting centre on the way to Kilikollur at Randamkutty Koyikkal junction. The couple was returning home from Kollam after shopping. The accident occurred when the parcel lorry that was coming behind the scooter was overtaking them and hit the two-wheeler.

Sudha lost control and fell under the lorry. The rear wheel of the lorry ran over Sudha's neck. She died instantly. Biju Kumar escaped with minor injuries as he fell on the roadside. The vehicle and the driver, who did not stop, were later taken into custody by the Kilikollur police. Sudha's body has been sent to the Paripally Medical College Hospital morgue for a post-mortem.
