THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Forest Minister A K Saseendran has responded to Thamarassery Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil, who strongly criticized the government in connection with the wildlife attacks in the state. I thought bishops are people capable of comforting. The minister said that he sometimes doubts whether that is the case. In the context of increasing wildlife attacks, the Bishop of Thamarassery had demanded the resignation of Forest Minister A K Saseendran the other day.
'It is better to say good words. They are always known for their soothing remarks, but now I feel that is not the case. Everyone has the right to evaluate a minister. Seeking resignation is a political necessity. I doubt whether the bishop raised that. Will the problem that has arisen be resolved if he resigns? Resignation is not a solution to the problem, what is a permanent solution to this, that is what is needed,' said the minister.
Thamarassery Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil demanded the resignation of the forest minister after taking responsibility for the deaths of the farmers. ‘I doubt whether there is governance in the state. The farmers' rights to live are being denied. The forest department is adopting an approach that is harassing farmers. The forest minister should resign, taking responsibility for the deaths of farmers,’ the bishop said while addressing the state convention of the Indian Farmers Movement (INFAM) in Kottayam.
