Youngster who saved cricketer Rishabh Pant's life attempts suicide, girlfriend dies

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Rajatkumar, who saved Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant from a car accident in 2022, attempted suicide. It is reported that Rajat tried to commit suicide by consuming poison along with his girlfriend. The incident took place on February 9 in Bucha Basti village of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

It is reported that Rajat Kumar and his 21-year-old girlfriend Manu Kashyap attempted suicide by consuming poison after their family objected to their relationship citing caste differences. Manu Kashyap died during treatment at the hospital. Rajat Kumar is undergoing treatment and is in critical condition.

Manu’s family found another groom for her and the marriage was fixed. This news battered the duo as they planned to consume poison together and end life. Meanwhile, Manu’s parents alleged Rajat of kidnapping and later killing her.

In 2022, Rajat Kumar who was near the farm during the wee hours of the night saw a car getting wrecked in a fatal accident. He helped the driver come out and alerted authorities. The driver was indeed Indian cricket player Rishabh Pant.

Pant was on his way to Uttarakhand from Delhi when his Mercedes crashed into a divider near Roorkee and burst into flames. During the subsequent new coverage, even national newspapers wrote in full glow the savoir act of Rajat.

After pulling Pant out of the vehicle, Rajat also gave him emergency medical care. Pant after recovering from the accident gifted Rajat with a scooter for his life saving act.
