THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On May 4, 2012, RMP leader TP Chandrasekharan was brutally murdered, suffering 52 hack wounds. The accused, which included CPM leaders and workers, have now been revealed to have received over 1,000 days of parole—a shocking new disclosure.
The extended parole period began during the tenure of the first Pinarayi Vijayan government, as confirmed by the Chief Minister in response to Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in the Legislative Assembly. However, prison authorities maintain that all paroles, including those issued under COVID-19 relaxations, were legally sanctioned.
Among the accused, K C Ramachandran, Trouser Manoj, and Sajith spent over 1,000 days outside jail on parole. Six others, including T K Rajeesh, Shinoj, M C Anoop, Muhammad Shafi, and Kirmani Manoj, were on parole for more than 500 days. Meanwhile, the main accused, Kodi Suni, was granted only 60 days of parole.
Different types of leave, including ordinary leave, emergency leave, and COVID-19 special leave, were used to facilitate their release. In addition, they received medical leave and interim bail during the trial period.
