YouTuber and social media commentator Santhosh Varkey, popularly known as "Arattannan," has described his recent stint in jail as a “good experience” following his release on bail. Speaking to a YouTube channel, Varkey said that apart from the lack of freedom, all necessary facilities were available in jail and added that everyone should experience jail life at least once.
"Going to jail is an experience. I've been there and have no further interest. The only thing missing there is freedom- everything else is available. It's definitely a good experience. There weren't any issues. Everyone should experience it once. There's food. No problems at all. The police officers are also nice. You will see a new Arattannan from tomorrow onwards. Certain conditions have been set as part of the bail. I will continue to review films. I have to watch Thudarum movie," Santhosh Varkey said.
Santhosh Varkey was granted bail the other day in a case related to obscene remarks made on Facebook against actresses. His post suggested that all women working in the film industry had bad character. He was arrested based on a complaint lodged by actress Ansiba Hassan, a member of the ad hoc committee of the film association AMMA, with the Kochi City Police Commissioner.
Justice M.B. Snehalatha granted bail after considering that he had been in remand for 11 days and that further custodial interrogation was not required. The bail conditions include a restriction that Santhosh should not make similar comments on social media.
