LUCKNOW: Ten pilgrims lost their lives in a road accident while on their way to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The accident occurred when a car and a bus collided on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway last night.
The accident victims are from the Korba district of Chhattisgarh. A bolero car carrying pilgrims collided with a bus coming from Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh. After the accident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the officials to speed up the rescue operation and take the injured to the hospital. Yamuna Nagar Deputy Commissioner Vivek Chandra Yadav said that the bodies of those who died in the accident were shifted to Swarup Rani Hospital for post-mortem.
Last day, seven pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh who were returning after participating in the Maha Kumbh Mela died in an accident. The accident took place in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The mini-bus in which the pilgrims were travelling collided with the truck.
