Student drowns after going to bath in river; mother in critical condition

KOTHAMANGALAM: A 10th class student drowned while bathing with her mother in the Kozhipilly River in Kothamangalam. The deceased is Maria (15), daughter of Abi of Aryappilli in Kozhipilly. The mother Jomini (39), who tried to save her, was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. Jomini and her two children were bathing near the check dam in the Kozhipilly River when Maria fell into the current. Jomini also sank while trying to save her daughter. Locals started the rescue operation after hearing the cries of Jomini's younger daughter Julia. Later, the fire force arrived and brought Maria's body to the shore. Jomini was found later and admitted to the Mar Baselios Medical Mission Hospital in Kothamangalam.
