THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 35th state conference of the SFI (Students Federation of India) kicked off in Thiruvananthapuram. Organising Committee Chairman M Vijayakumar hoisted the flag at the ceremony conducted on Tuesday night at Central Stadium, (Sitaram Yechury-Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Nagar), the venue for the public conference. Hundreds of activists participated in the flag, banner, and torch rallies that converged in the conference city from various locations.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the public conference at 11 am on Wednesday after the rally attended by thousands of activists. SFI State President Anusree will preside over the function. The delegate session will be inaugurated at the A.K.G Hall by Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, the Cuban Ambassador to India. Abel Aballe Despaigne, Deputy Head of the Cuban Mission in India, will be the chief guest.
A total of 503 delegates, 71 state committee members, and 3 representatives from Lakshadweep will participate. On the 21st, the new state committee and office bearers will be elected.
The flag rally arrived from the Dheeraj Memorial Mandapam in Idukki. The torch rally came from the Abhimanyu Memorial Mandapam at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, while the flagpole rally reached from the Sajin Shahul Memorial in Parassala.
SFI All India General Secretary Mayukh Biswas, President V.P. Sanu, and national leaders like Dr. Nithish Narayanan, Adarsh M. Saji, and Dinit Dand will attend the conference. A gathering of former SFI office bearers will take place on the 20th.
