KOZHIKODE: Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala has criticized the CPM's Draft Resolution for the 24th Party Congress, which states that BJP and RSS are not fascist, calling it a tactical move to secure BJP votes in the upcoming legislative assembly elections. He made these remarks while speaking to media personnel in Kozhikode.
He alleged that CPM retained power in Kerala by securing BJP votes in the last assembly elections. Given that CPM has no political influence anywhere else in India, and considering Kerala’s current political scenario, the party is now trying to ensure BJP votes for the next election through this draft resolution.
"Even before the previous assembly elections, Prakash Karat had expressed this view, while Sitaram Yechury had always opposed it. Karat’s stance indicates an underlying understanding between CPM and BJP. The claim that BJP and RSS are not fascist is shocking and suggests a secret alliance. At this rate, when will CPM declare RSS a progressive movement? We must also take note that the Kerala Chief Minister has never criticized BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Chennithala said.
He further accused the CPM-led government of pushing people into distress. "The people are in distress. The strike by ASHA workers has passed 15 days. The Chief Minister must set aside his arrogance and engage in discussions with them. This is a struggle for survival, and their demands should be considered sympathetically. The people are fed up with this government," he said.
Chennithala also spoke about the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections. "The Congress is strengthening its preparations for the panchayat elections. Panchayat elections are elections of ordinary workers. This is the time for Congress leaders to unite and focus solely on the elections.
Addressing internal party matters, he emphasized that Congress remains a democratic party, where differences of opinion are natural. However, he clarified that there are no longer any major internal conflicts like in the past. I don't want to respond to the controversy regarding Shashi Tharoor. After his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, he has not made any further statements on the matter, which is something to take note of," Chennithala added.
