'Girl student questioned howling'; Farewell dance party that triggered revenge

KOZHIKODE: More information is out on the death of a 15-year-old boy who succumbed to injuries suffered in an attack by his school friends in Thamarassery. Chungam native Muhammad Shahbaz (15) died in the incident.

Shahbaz was a student of MJ Higher Secondary School in Elettil Vattoli. Last Sunday, there was a clash between the 10th-grade students at the tuition center regarding a small altercation that happened some days back during a farewell party at the tuition center.

During the function, the song for which a girl student of Elettil school was dancing suddenly paused inviting boos and howling from students of Thamarassery school. This is said to be the mainspring for the fight. The phone on which the song was playing suddenly got switched off, leading to the embarrassment.

The female student of Elettil school suddenly confronted the students who howled at her. The verbal argument led to the clash. When the children clashed, the teachers intervened and stopped the program. Meanwhile, there were calls and discussions on social media to settle the deal.

On Thursday evening, the students came in droves to the bus stand and attacked each other. Shahbaz was seriously injured in the attack and was admitted to the ICU due to internal bleeding in the head. He died on Friday night. Friends have stated that Shahbaz was beaten up by the students of Thamarassery School. According to reports, those students had already threatened that they would beat Shahbaz in the coming days.

Investigation is ongoing to get the identity of the person who took Shahbaz from his home to bus stand on the day of fight.
