THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Afaan, the accused in the Venjaramoodu massacre case, has been shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail. Afaan was shifted to the jail eight days after the murders. It was said that Afaan would be shifted to the jail last Saturday, but he was not shifted since the medical board did not give permission.

The Venjaramoodu police registered a case against Afaan yesterday in the case of killing his girlfriend and younger brother. The police are planning to take Afaan into custody tomorrow in this case. Afaan was admitted to the Medical College Hospital based on his statement that he consumed rat poison after the murders. The police are planning to file a charge sheet within 90 days.

The medical board had informed yesterday that the accused does not have any mental problems. The medical board also informed that he committed the mass murder with full consciousness. Afaan again told the police that financial obligation was the reason for killing everyone and trying to take his life. "If I die alone, my younger brother and mother will have no one. They will suffer. I cannot bear it. My girlfriend will also be alone. I did not want to leave her alone. My paternal uncle, his wife and grandmother did not understand our difficulties and did not help. Therefore, I thought they should not live either," Afaan said.

It was also revealed that Afaan had consumed alcohol on the day of the incident. However, the report of the blood test conducted to clarify whether Afaan was under the influence of drugs has not been received. Afaan had revealed the other day that he planned to kill three more close relatives. 'I had planned to kill my mother's relatives, a woman and her daughter living in Thattathumala, and my uncle in Venjaramoodu. But after I killed my younger brother by hitting him on the head, I lost my mental strength. I became exhausted. Otherwise, I would have killed them too,' Afaan revealed. The accused told this to a psychiatrist who examined his mental state at the Medical College Hospital. The psychiatrist passed the information to the police.
