THRISSUR: Five people had a narrow escape after their car misdirected by Google Maps fell into a river at Thiruvilwamala. The car fell thirty meters deep. The car, which was traveling through the Ezhunullath Kadavu check dam connecting the Thiruvilwamalakondazhi panchayats, fell in Gayathripuzha.

Balakrishnan, Sadanandan, Vishalakshi, Rukmini and Krishnaprasad from Chengottoor Mandarathodi House at Kottakkal in Malappuram were in the car. The accident occurred at around 7:30 pm on Sunday while they were returning from the Kuthampully weaving village after buying clothes.

The car driving from Thiruvilwamala area to the check dam using Google Maps, lost its direction and overturned into the river. Relatives and locals in another car rescued those trapped in the river. There was about five feet water in the area where the car fell.
