'How Ranya escaped security clearance...all details received', says Karnataka BJP MLA

BENGALURU: Kannada actress Ranya Rao is currently in judicial custody. She was accused of smuggling 14.8 kg of gold worth Rs 12.56 crore from Dubai to India. At the time of her arrest from Bengaluru airport, Ranya was found hiding the smuggled gold inside her clothes.

Meanwhile, the political battle in the state has intensified after the arrest of Ranya, the daughter of a top police officer in Karnataka. Senior Karnataka MLA and BJP leader Basangouda Ramangouda Patil Yatnal came forward with obscene remarks against Ranya.

“She wore gold all over her body, hid it wherever she had holes,” said Yatna, a former Union Minister. Yatnal alleged that some ministers in the state cabinet were also involved in gold smuggling.
