THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given an explanation for meeting Union Minister Nirmala Seetharaman in Delhi with the governor. The Chief Minister responded to the opposition criticism regarding it in the Assembly. The Chief Minister said that he did not go there because the Governor facilitated that meeting for me. If two people with different politics meet each other, the politics won't melt away.
"Chennithala made this meeting with the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman into a big thing. The governor went there to host a treat for the MPs. I was going to attend the Politburo meeting. We were travelling together on the plane. The governor invited me to come to the event. I also attended the MPs' programme. I also called the governor from there, saying that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would come for breakfast. He agreed and came in the morning itself. I didn't go after he facilitated the meeting for me," the Chief Minister clarified.
"I, the governor and the finance minister have our own politics. Politics won't melt away when people with different politics meet each other. I did not go to give a request but to talk about some general issues of Kerala. The discussion was completely friendly. It was just a breakfast meeting," said the Chief Minister.
