Accused took knife from dining table at Sebin's house; Tejas suggested to shift to new house, Flory withdrew from marriage

KOLLAM: The police say that the incident in which Chavara Neendakara native Tejas Raju committed suicide by jumping in front of a train after murdering Uliyakovil native Sebin George Gomes at his home was premeditated. Sebin's sister Flory is an employee of a private bank in Kozhikode. Flory rejected Tejas' request to rent a house and live there. Following this, Flory withdrew from the marriage proposal. It is understood that this is the reason for Tejas's enmity.

Sebin's mother Daisy told the police that Flory and Tejas Raju were classmates in Plus Two. They also took coaching for bank tests together. Later, Tejas' father Raju, a DCRB grade SI, came to the house with a marriage proposal from Tejas. It was agreed that they can get married after both of them got jobs. Last May, Flory got a job in the Kozhikode branch of a private bank. In the meantime, Tejas and Flory started having problems in their relationship. Flory had told Tejas' father that she was withdrawing from the marriage. Daisy also testified that Flory's marriage was fixed for the 9th of this month with someone else.

Tejas arrived at the house in Uliyakovil in a car at 6.45 pm on Monday and stabbed Sebin George Gomes to death. Tejas also stabbed his father George Gomes in the hand when he tried to stop him. It is believed that the plan was to pour petrol and burn the house. During the scuffle that ensued after pouring petrol, Tejas stabbed Sebin and his father with a knife taken from the dining table. Tejas then escaped in his car and reached Kadappakada Chemmanmukku ROB at 7.30 pm. Following that he committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. George Gomes, who was seriously injured in his hand, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

The body of Tejas Raju was cremated at his home compound in Neendakara at 5 pm after the inquest. The body of Sebin George Gomes, who was brought to his home in Uliyakovil at 5 pm after the postmortem, is in a mobile morgue. The funeral will be held at the Holy Family Church in the Ashram at 11.30 am today.

Tejas' friend also under suspicion

The relatives stated that two weeks ago, a man, a friend of Tejas Raju, had sent a message to Flory on her phone asking if she was at home. The police suspect that the man may have sent the message at the request of Tejas Raju. This man will be taken into custody and questioned soon.
