LUCKNOW: Crucial details have emerged in the case of a merchant navy officer being murdered by his wife and her lover and then dismembered. Saurabh Rajput, a merchant navy officer with a US company, was killed. Saurabh's wife Muskan Rastogi (27) and her lover Sahil Shukla (25) have been arrested in the incident. It is learnt that Muskan and Sahil were both drug addicts. It is understood that the murder was committed out of fear that Saurabh would stop her drug use if he returned home.
Muskan’s parents, Pramod Kumar Rastogi and Kavita Rastogi told the media that Muskan had met them at home and confessed that she had killed her husband. They immediately handed over their daughter to the police. 'Saurabh left his parents and property worth crores for our daughter. But she killed him. She should be hanged. The reason behind the brutal act is addiction. She told us that her friend (Sahil) feared that Saurabh would stop their drug sessions. Our daughter said that this is why she killed her husband. Our daughter's weight had decreased by about 10 kg. We thought it was due to the mental anguish of not having her husband around. We did not know that the weight loss was due to drug use,' said Muskan's father Pramod Kumar.
Saurabh had come home in February for his six-year-old daughter's birthday but went missing on March 4. The woman and her boyfriend stabbed Saurabh to death, cut his body into 15 pieces and sealed them with cement in a plastic drum. After the murder, the woman had misled her relatives by sending messages from her husband's phone and posting on Instagram. However, the incident came to light when the family members filed a complaint with the police after Saurabh did not call them for days. Muskan confessed to the crime during police interrogation. The police found Saurabh's decomposed body nearly 15 days later in a rented apartment in Indiranagar and sent it for postmortem. Muskan reportedly went on a vacation to a hill station with Sahil after the murder.
