College professor accused of sexually abusing students arrested

NEW DELHI: The police have arrested a college professor accused of sexually abusing students and secretly recording the acts. The incident happened at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. The arrested is 50-year-old Geography Professor Rajnish Kumar of Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College. He told police that he does not know how many women he had abused. The police have seized 59 videos of him having sex with his students from his house. He told police that he started recording the rapes only a few years ago and that he had used female students even before that.

He said that he had also accepted bribes from students and their parents to give them higher marks in tests and help them to get jobs. Rajnish said that this led him to get closer to the girls and force them to have sex. He also said most of the girls shared bed with him against their will.

He also told police that he started recording and storing the visuals of the abuse. He said that he began recording after a web camera inadvertently recorded a student being raped. He did this without knowing it. Later, when he checked the computer, he saw the footage. He then decided to record and store everything. He had also installed special software on the computer to get clearer footage. He also admitted that he had blackmailed many showing these visuals.

An anonymous letter detailing the incidents led to his arrest. He soon went into hiding but was arrested. In 2001, he was appointed as a teacher in the college. He started abusing students in 2008. He was promoted as chief proctor last year.
