KOZHIKODE: A young man taken into police custody in Thamarassery is suspected to have swallowed MDMA in an attempt to evade arrest. The individual has been identified as Fayis, a native of Arayettumchal, Thamarassery. He was immediately shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for detailed medical examination.

The police were alerted by local residents after Fayis created a commotion at home. He had reportedly threatened to kill his family members, leading to the disturbance. On seeing the police, Fayis attempted to flee, during which he is suspected to have swallowed MDMA. He was initially taken to Thamarassery Hospital for a preliminary check-up before being referred to the medical college.

This incident comes just two weeks after a similar case in Thamarassery, where a youth named Shanid died after swallowing two packets of MDMA while trying to escape police custody at Ambayathode.
